Deanna of D:create was invited to co-create a new unit for the Masters of Community Development at the University of Queensland about adding the cultural and creative factor to practice. Teaching on this unit was such a delight, working with students who’d come to study in the course from South America, China, Philppines, Sudan, USA and Australia. Sharing stories of how practice works around the world was so rich. Working with Jason McLeod to lead the unit was also a fantastic experience of learning more about the work of peacebuilding in West Papua.
Delighted to be in the program twice: sharing a workshop on Embodied Futures and a presentation on how Applied Theatre creates a fertile functioning environment for enabling Nussbaum’s (2011) Human Capabilities at the International Applied Theatre Symposium in Auckland!
This conference is being hosted this time around close to home in Brisbane and provides a chance to share practice in dynamic way with people from around the world. Will be presenting focusing on the experiences of facilitating in Brazil.
This was part of the second International Teaching Artist Conference.
A tour of South America presented a few opportunities to share practice. D:create presented as well as learnt from others in the following gatherings:
Theatre in Development symposium in Florianopolis in 2013
The Popular Theatre and Community Arts gathering, ENTEPOLA in Santiago, Chile in 2014
A workshop on Rainbow of Desires was delivered at the South American Theatre of the Oppressed convention in 2014
